Sheraton Austin at the Capitol | The Yard
Austin, TX | Brand Identity, Restaurants
The Full Service Restaurant at the Sheraton Austin Hotel holds an opportunity not afforded to many spaces in Austin. The hotel itself sits on the bank of the Waller Creek, a creek that holds significant historic placement in Austins past. Judge Edwin Waller was chosen to direct the planning and construction of Austin when it was formed in 1839 and subsequently the beautiful creek that meanders throughout the city and directly behind the Sheraton Austin Hotel. Waller Creek is also going through a face lift of its own and in order to take advantage of the soon to be bustling and thriving creek side, the Full Service Restaurant at the Sheraton Austin will provide a backyard for guests and locals alike.
Playing on the idea of a backyard, the restaurant design will focus on merging the outdoor and creek bank with the indoors, creating a fun juxtaposition of indoor and outdoor space. The restaurant will feature craft cocktails and locally made beer, elevated backyard fare and a vintage feel.
The branding at the restaurant will be homey in feel, drawing the viewer back to a simpler time. Craft paper packaging and menus on clip boards will convey the relaxed attitude of the space.
